In Pijnacker, we laid out a garden based on a design by Annemarie Boot of Bootanica (https://bootanica.nl/).
In the design plan, Annemarie describes the client's wishes: A garden that is distinctive and can grow old beautifully. To be able to enjoy the butterflies and bees fluttering by between the blades of grass. Where you can experience the change of seasons. Where you can see a frog catching a mosquito in spring, where you can see the leaves colouring in autumn and the birds eating the berries. A garden that suits the client and where they feel at home.
And further: The love of nature and ecology was an important starting point for the garden design from the beginning. Embracing nature and inviting nature into the garden so that nature can embrace us. The location at the side of a ditch with old pollard willows was a great starting point. The bank in the design is an extension of this. The terrace is hidden between high bank vegetation which, in addition to the natural experience, also offers privacy. The rain pond is a beautiful spot for amphibians, dragonflies, butterflies, birds and perhaps even a hedgehog to do some drinking. The planting is a feast for butterflies, bees and birds. Flowering butterflies and insect flowers from early spring to late autumn, as well as berries and crab apples for the birds.
