This garden was almost completely paved. Some of the paving has been reused. The garden has been designed to be as climate-friendly as possible, a rainwater-resistant garden. The driveway has been completely re-laid with the existing paving, whereby a water-permeable joint has been applied. The joint strip allows rainwater to pass through to the fine grit subsoil. Drainage pipes have been laid under the grit. The water is collected in these pipes and drained to the infiltration crates.
An underground rainwater tank has been installed in the back yard. The rainwater outlets of the garage and the roof have been disconnected and connected to the rainwater tank. The water from the tank is being pumped up to water the garden.
The paths in the garden are made of water-permeable semi-paving. When it rains the first water will be collected here. If more water falls, the lawn is used to collect the excess water. The lawn is sown with grass seeds and clover seeds. The lawn is deliberately not mowed every week so that the clover can bloom. The flowers are very attractive to bees.
The garden is planted with plants that are attractive to bees, butterflies and insects.
